April 29, 2020 CWan-Docksey

YMCA Burton are launching a new service to support young people and families during this stay at home period.

Their Mediation service will be offering a new short, intensive intervention session in support of young people and parents dealing with tensions due to ‘Stay at home’ policies.

From Monday 20th April, this service will be delivered through a 2 hour Skype/Messenger video session with a young person (12-18 years) and parent(s). This will include working together to find better ways of dealing with problems, increasing empathy, and looking at communication skills and practice in the home.

Paula Senior for YMCA Burton said; “We are delighted to be able to offer this additional service to support young people and families who may be experiencing increased tension in the home during this period. This time can be very challenging and we want offer to support those who may be struggling. It also complements our Mediation service which has continued to run during this period.”

If you would like to know any more information about this service, or to arrange for a call, please email peter.oreilly@burtonymca.org for further details.
